About Us
Explanation of the organization
NAPMW/Chicagoland (formerly Northwestern Chicago Association of Professional
Mortgage Women) was chartered in July, 1988. The association represents
mortgage professionals, men and women, in the greater Chicagoland area dedicated
to the promotion, and the professional and educational advancement of women in this
industry. Association business is conducted at monthly dinner meetings;
many seminars are offered during those meetings focusing on key issues or
developments in the mortgage industry.
Annual fundraising events include a fall golf outing, holiday party in December
(held jointly with the Illinois association of Mortgage Brokers) and a spring
fashion show. The spring fashion show traditionally has used industry
professionals, men and women, to promote local and national stores spring
merchandise, not only in career attire but also in casual and formal wear.
In the past few years the show has progressed to include fine furs and jewelry.
Dinner and entertainment are provided.
Our association has grown over the years into a friendly, welcoming fellowship who
enjoy working in this industry and with each other to the benefit of all. We
invite you to come out and join us the second Tuesday of every month. We
promise it won't be an evening you'll soon forget!
Advancing Professionalism of Individuals in the Mortgage Lending
Industry
Charged with serving its members and the lending profession by promoting high
standards through professional development and education, the National
Association of Professional Mortgage Women (NAPMW) provides its members with
the resources they need to enhance performance and ensure continued growth
and success.
Who Are NAPMW Members?
NAPMW's membership consists of a vast array of mortgage lending professionals,
including loan officers, underwriters, processors, appraisers, and mortgage
insurance representatives, to name just a few. As a result of it being a
dynamic and diverse group, NAPMW is stronger as a whole and provides its members
with an invaluable professional edge.
History of NAPMW
On February 12, 1964, nine women with 161 years of combined experience in
various fields of mortgage banking met in Seattle, Washington to consider the
need for an organization to promote women in the mortgage lending professions.
On April 22, 1964, the first association, to be known as the Seattle Association
of Professional Mortgage Women, was officially formed. Other areas began to
show interest in a similar organization. In February of 1967, the National
Association of Professional Mortgage Women was chartered for the purpose of
organizing Local Associations throughout the United States. Today, the
Association is composed of approximately 4,500 members in over 80 Local
Associations.
